Accountability
in Education
Is the Nevada Way
Governor Lombardo believes that every student in Nevada deserves access to an education that not only meets their immediate learning needs but also prepares them for lifelong success.
Governor Lombardo has also championed the idea that parents should have a significant say in their children's education, including the school they attend. Students should not feel trapped because of their zip code or their parents' income bracket. This is why his budget calls for a 150% increase in scholarships for school choice as he works toward education reforms.

Governor Lombardo's Accountability in Education Act:
- Empowers families by expanding open enrollment policies, providing transportation support, and implementing school choice for families in failing schools. The Act also introduces expanded achievement options, including transfers to charter schools or state-approved private schools, ensuring every child has access to the education setting that works best for them.
- Mandates the integration of the Science of Reading in teacher preparation programs at state-funded colleges and universities and requires ongoing professional development for elementary school teachers. Evidence shows this approach will increase literacy rates.
- Ensures funding parity under the Pupil-Centered Funding Plan, so public charter schools receive equitable resources to serve students. Charter school teachers would also be given equal pay.
- Creates the Nevada Integrity in Academic Funding Program to ensure that education funds slated for qualified expanded achievement options are used only for their intended purpose and distributed responsibly.
- Establishes a dedicated account within the State Education Fund to reward teachers and administrators who consistently perform at high levels with financial bonuses.
